I think this quote means to always set goals for yourself.The more goals you set for your self the more likely you are to achieve one of them and this will bring self motivation and confidence.You become a better person every time you have accomplished one of your goals.In the field the more goals you you set for your self the more of a better player you become.If you have a job you always want to find a way to impress your boss and get a raise, the only way to do this is by going beyond your limits and showiong him that you a person who is determined and when you have completed your goal you set another one.
